Brother Mortimer

Brother Mortimer is the eldest son, and my favorite Kooky Spooky. His accessory is a guitar. He was the first one I ever owned as a kid. The funny thing about this one is that I didn't get him on the card. He was part of an Easter basket, of all things! This was in 1970, when I was 5, and probably after the line was discontinued. Apparently the owners of the little dime store had some old toy stock and used it to stuff the baskets. But a ghost with fangs in an Easter basket? Weird! And now that we've mentioned fangs, you'll notice that Brother Mortimer is the most monster-like of the family.

Here is a close up of a loose Brother Mortimer. Cool fangs, huh? Too bad he doesn't have his guitar in this pic.

Here's a back shot of Brother Mortimer. Notice the whole in the bottom? That's why they were called finger puppets.

Let's take a look at what Brother Mortimer looks like holding his banjo! Totally cool!
