The structure and algorithms were pretty much the same, but it was a bit clearer on statistics, especially the THAC0 concept which I think I am the only one on earth that likes it. Nope, I like it too, I'd been using it in 1E too actually, just because I liked writing down one number as opposed to ...

Well, it is only a 2nd level spell. I don't really see a problem with that. Remember, it works both ways, the group can't sneak up on dragons, creatures can't sneak up on them as easily when they are high level. They are still counted as invisible (ie, -4 to try and hit them) so that advantage is st...

I have actually seen rolls that good before, rolled up in front of the group. I've also been challenged in the past for having decent rolls and been able to reproduce them. So I wouldn't assume cheating based on the stats. The problem about 'fudging' results during play is a bigger issue, other peop...

It's actually a fairly easy thing to accomplish if you know how to takes the rules from multiple supplements and combine their benefits into one character. Now I see where the problem is. Many of the supplements aren't well designed to begin with, and they certainly weren't designed to work with th...

I never knew about that table :) I had made some estimates of my own using the ratios (and come up with different numbers) and used that for ghosts. It really pissed one of my players off since he was so unconcerned about a ghost because he was playing an elf! I liked it though, it did put...

Hold gets a save, Sleep does not. But otherwise, it does have those limitations. Still, a single Sleep spell could be quite deadly to a group of low levels, particularly 1st level adventurers! I don't think the damage part is what's deadly, it's the auto-kill, you really can't count that as lesser :...

It happened quite often in my games, but I did run a pretty high magic game. I only looked at the prices in the books to get a baseline when I wasn't really sure though, in most cases, the prices were very different. I had my own tables for the merchants, and they went with the idea of what was popu...

Maybe quit the browser and reopen it? There's nothing wrong with it as far as I can tell, that c thing shows up just fine for me. IE is notorious for getting messed up, if quitting it and restarting it doesn't work, then try clearing the cache, that seems to get corrupted quite often. Mira (The atte...

Am I the only person who sees this as a near irreconcileably problem with the druid class?  I guess so! :D I could make the same argument for clerics, shouldn't they be in their churches preaching and healing instead of going on adventures? I don't know if you ever read in the Unearthed...

I don't think I'd use the listed MRs as being against 1st level spells, as you pointed out, that's a little too easy. you can state that it's vs 4th or 5th and adjust accordingly, I was just suggesting the concept. But what I'd do is just add 20% to all MRs rather than state it was against 5th level...

What could be more un-natural than undead? My PC druid went with the adventurers in order to stem the undead menace represented by a lich (though that was unknown until later) sending it's servants out on various missions. To my PC, undead are a total abomination and something to be erased. (the bal...

Using Mira's method, it's totally vulnerable to any spell of 6th level or above (ie a 12th level wizard). See, I like that idea, I have no problem with that at all. Seems to me that the more powerful magics (why should MR have a huge affect on a Wish spell for example?) SHOULD be able to bypass MR ...

Answer me this: just what the hell is a PC druid supposed to actually do?  The same types of things a PC cleric does :) Druids can heal pretty well, and nobody can destroy a dungeon like a 1E druid. one of my older PCs is a druid, and our group started calling ourselves dungeon wreckers...

I have never used the damage caps, so I have to go with that right away anyhow :D I also don't think caster level should have any effect, but I think SPELL level shoud. I think the magic resistance should be listed as the resistance vs a 1st level spell (perhaps) and that for every higher level of t...

The monk and the barbarian were never really 'core' to begin with, so 2E didn't take them away really, it just didn't include them :D I wasn't fond of the assassin class when I figured out that a fighter/thief was pretty much able to do everything better for the same XP. However, it was a good NPC c...

I like the idea of the gods being dependent on their worshipers, as it explains why they are in conflict with each other through them. If they can get their worshipers to wipe out someone else's worshipers, then they managed to weaken or even destroy a rival. In general, the gods on my world don't t...

I guess the idea I go with is similar to Eddings (surprisingly, since he's an author I don't care for in general), on my world, the gods' power is dependent on their worshipers. And a god can only be 'killed' by destroying all of it's worshipers. (subsequently, a god CAN be reborn just by having a b...
