Re: Back to work

I need to scroll down more often to see the posts. Missed this a while back as I had been in the hospital for much of June/July. Would you guys like me to start posting revelations about each level here, maybe start discussing various issues and giving you a heads up on what's happening with each le...

Re: Disabled folk in dnd

If the chair can do all that then it is probably a one of Artifact or rare and would also need a high level caster t imbue it with the magic to work. You can have disabled folk in your game but mostly NPC's as it would be more difficult to adventure while handicapped. (Dungeons especially) Once you ...

Re: Disabled folk in dnd

If I can accept magic then I can accept that there should be very low disabilities due to injury as Regeneration and healing magics exist. Sure at birth mental or other major disabilities might exist as they do in the real world but those people would not become adventurers. Everybody wants to add t...

When the bullets fly across the border it is no longer my problem what they hit. More patriots need to defend the border since the government is no longer willing to. Right below me the border in Baja is a total joke and anyone can just walk across and although they are supposed to go down the road ...

Re: Memorizing out of some one else's spellbook?

Quick answer - If they can read it they can memorize it. Long answer It would depend on if they studied under the same master or school of wizardry so understand all the notation as I would think each magic school of thought might have its own form of writing spells so that someone who might special...

Re: Spell requirements - Use or leave out of campaign

It does add a lot of bookkeeping that I find mostly unnecessary. It also can depend on the DM and the group. I did DM a group where they wanted to keep track of all their items even the fighters and rangers. It added more time but they were a group that enjoyed the bookkeeping so kept track of ratio...

Re: How long to build a wooden tower??

How long do you think it would take, to build a wooden construction Tower? I see in the castle guide, that nothing is in there, other than STONE towers... There are some guys on Youtube who do builds and they did an actual wooden watchtower build and it took them 10-12 hours per day 400 - 430 effor...

Spell requirements - Use or leave out of campaign

Opening up a discussion about the use of Spell components. There are some actual written campaigns that have the players searching for these so there is need at times for these in a campaign. The Arcane Age modules comes to mind as searching for the parts to the Level 12 Karsus spell requires very s...

Re: How do PRIESTS identify magic items???

Did you like the write up i put in for discernment, and the shifting of the mat component, being incense, rather than a pearl?? I do like your write up and think it has good merit in the game. Although I will admit that I am one who not always cared about Material components and let magic and praye...

Re: How do PRIESTS identify magic items???

I always thought that Priests should have some version of Identify in their divine spells. I agree that it should not be harmful to the priest. Although each god could decide slightly different ways that an after effect could be given determined by the alignment of the priest or god being prayed to....

Re: People are STILL talking about level limits?

I have always gone with the optional rule that is costs double the experience to go up for Demi-humans and allow them to continue forward. Never had an issue with players not playing humans or choosing non-humans over humans. Never had an imbalance and it allowed my players to enjoy the game more as...

Re: Cost/weight for pipes and tobacco

I would imagine the tobacco (pipe weed) being sold at the farmer markets to be just a few coppers. As for pipes I imagine for uniqueness that most would whittle their own or buy some from the local scrimshaw dealer for a silver or two.

Does anyone have a template for creating Monsters in the AD&D style? All the links I find online are old and broken and I do not want the newer 4th or 5th edition templates.

Flying back to the user is how I do it as that is also how it seemed in the Drizzt novels with the hammer from Wulfgar. I think there was a limit to how far he had to be to bring it to him but it he called it to him similar to the hammer for Thor.

What is to say their Master had not already found the spell so that the apprentice can learn it as well.
If it has to be found then let the apprentice find it in his masters collection.
