Undermountain level 4

Post by slade88green »

Well, as my first post here it is a bit of an ambitious one. I just started running some players in Undermountain and decided to expand on my own. I am currently drawing level 4, the farm level. I don't have the computer software to draw mine, so its the old fashioned way for me. I will try to post a pict of it when its done. dang I missed running Undermountain.

Almost done drawing the map itself. should be done in the next day or two. I'll post a picture when I'm done with it.

You gotta upload it to a website, either your own webspace or something free like Imagehost. Then you hit reply, then hit the URL tag button, and insert the URL for the picture.

Or you can email them to me and I can post them.

I'm liking where this is going! :)

But I think the farms level has to be double sized. There are a lot of monsters for Halaster to feed!

Monsters to feed? Thats what adventurers are for  . At this point I could still make it double size as I still have 2 sides open enough to do so.

OK, talked me into it. Starting the other side and making it a double size map. What did I get into to? lol

Nice maps slade! A double sided map? Has that ever been done in gaming material before? Usually they include a legend or information on the reverse side of a map. I like the idea of a dual sided map.

It's also good to see life on this site again. 8)

Actually I didnt plan on doing a map on both sides of the sheet, just a double sized map. too much trouble occurs when you do a dual sided map. Bleed through of markers can mess up the original map. cant risk it. Also It seems it would be easier to follow with a double size instead of flipping the map and trying to find where your players were.

That would be awesome. Im not sure how well the grid will show as with this kind of paper its almost invisible. I have started work on level 4 East as well. I make no promises on when I will have that side done.

Just tell me what grid size you are using (# of squares per inch) and I can superimpose it. Halaster's maps for the RoUM III project are scanned and he sends them to me and the grids are difficult to see sometimes as well. :)

I'm going to finish up the other side before I get them scanned in. After that I would love to have the maps printed by computer to clean them up.

Still working on the second side. I did find a place today that will scan them for me so I can send them. I was thinking of putting in a market place on the second side with warehouses controlled by a certain faction, maybe add in some political strife. what do you think?

Hmmm. Not sure how much political strife there would be. The farms are so vital to Undermountain that I doubt Halaster would allow anything disruptive. Then again, if some slaying, stealing, plundering, and petrification of enemies goes on without disturbing the day-to-day operation, I'm sure Halaster would see fit to look the other way.

I'd say go for it!

@slade

I am in the process of converting your map into the format we are using for the RoUMIII project. I'll post it here when finished. I am going off of the map you shared (which is fantastic by the way :) ) and am finding it difficult in areas because the scaling is off but I am doing my best to reproduce it accurately.

Halaster will probably want to kill me as there is much work to be done on our project but I feel this will get me back into the groove and focused on things to come. I need to get my baseball bat out anyways because I know Halaster has a ton of changes he wants done on Level 8 and the sub-level.
