Disabled folk in dnd

Post by garhkal »

Have you seen THIS video on youtube yet??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT324dPAsgk

Talks about some folk seeming to think if you can 'accept magic in' fantasy games, then you must also accept disabled folk....

Sorry, but at MOST I can see someone missing an arm still adventuring. I don't see someone in a wheel chair getting around, or someone who's missing a leg surviving..

If I can accept magic then I can accept that there should be very low disabilities due to injury as Regeneration and healing magics exist. Sure at birth mental or other major disabilities might exist as they do in the real world but those people would not become adventurers.
Everybody wants to add themselves in but not all jobs are all inclusive and never will be.
If I saw an archer in a wheelchair then what I see is a easy to hit target.

But with regenerate being such a high level magic, AND that means you need not just a high priest, but one who has a 18 wis, is that a general spell that can be cast on just anyone??

Remember that chair had special powers and it could levitate eventually if I recall the WOTC article. Looked like prof X chair sorta.
At the edge of madness, he will show no sadness
Never broken, he'll be back for more
Proven under fire, over trench and wire
No fear of death, he's unshakeable
Forged for the war, he's unbreakable

If the chair can do all that then it is probably a one of Artifact or rare and would also need a high level caster t imbue it with the magic to work. You can have disabled folk in your game but mostly NPC's as it would be more difficult to adventure while handicapped. (Dungeons especially)

Once you take that arrow to the knee you are most likely doing guard duty the rest of your life.

I wouldn't put it past them. I've already heard of groups who a player (or two) are wanting TRANS characters. OR bi/non-binary ones.. HELL ONE even asked "what benefits would my pc have, if i was autistic!"?

It's the woke bullshit that destroys everything. This is why I will have nothing to do with this nonsense and will not support these companies. I can't even imagine what these peoples' games look like when they run them.
