I have NEVER understood this. What the hell does it mean?
In UA, pg. 17, it says (under 23rd level druid abilities):
"The character gains the ability to enter any of the Inner Planes, roam Inner Plane Probability Lines (the 7th dimension), and dwell on the Plane of Concordant Opposition (all as for the Plane of Earth, above)."
What the hell are the "Inner Plane Probability Lines"?
It rings a bell, but a very distant one. I ran through the indexes of the 1E DMG, PHB, and MotP, and found nothing mentioning this. Wasn't it a concept from Basic D&D? I remember reading about it a long, long time ago, but can't remember a single detail.

If I had to guess, the inner plane probability lines are probably the pathways you travel along to reach each of the inner planes.

Google "Inner Plane Probability Lines". There is quite a bit of discussion out there on it. The general concensus is that it was something Gygax never got to finish before 1st Edition was scrapped.
Inner Planes = Elemental Planes and the ways to travel to each are via the Etheral Plane, via another inner plane, or via elemental vortices.
