Top Ten D&D Villains of All Time

Post by Halaster Blackcloak »

Just sitting here recovering from an unbelievable bout with the flu (as if I didn't see that coming, after 4 months of 16 hr days, 7 days a week! ), I was looking through some old D&D material and decided to open a discussion of our Top Ten D&D Villains of All Time. Mine would be:

1. Halaster Blackcloak
2. Szass Tam
3. Orcus
4. Tiamat
5. Demogorgon
6. Asmodeus
7. Vecna
8. Acererak
9. Baba Yaga
10. Lloth

If I wanted to make it harder and narrow it to the Top FIVE D&D Villains of All Time, mine would be:

1. Halaster Blackcloak
2. Szass Tam
3. Orcus
4. Tiamat
5. Vecna

Who's next?

Actually, I was looking at this the other day and I'm going to revise it. If I had to narrow it down to just my Top 5, those would be:

1. Halaster Blackcloak
2. Szass Tam
3. Orcus
4. Tiamat
5. Baba Yaga

I would have said Dracula but I guess Strahd is that version. Btw, I'm watching the Dracula series on netflix. Its certainly a little different esp powers and weaknesses of the vampire.
At the edge of madness, he will show no sadness
Never broken, he'll be back for more
Proven under fire, over trench and wire
No fear of death, he's unshakeable
Forged for the war, he's unbreakable

Actually, I was never that big a fan of Strahd. Just seemed to be another Dracula variant to me. Now that I think about it, none of the Ravenloft or Dragonlance villains ever really appealed to me that much. Iuz from Greyhawk came close to making the list though.

Most of my favorite AD&D villains are Dragonlance.

Speaking of ravenloft this series is odd but when it reached the dollmaker ideas flooded in my mind. Fantastic ravenloft or githic earth red death material.

On a different note of sorts (waaaaay back). I made use of THIS!. for villains and heroes. It was kind of hilarious tbh.
