RIP Aaron Allston

Post by Beowulf »

I guess it's a comment on the state of RPGs nowadays but I just read that Aaron Allston died on Feb 27th of this year. For those who don't remember him he wrote the The Grand Duchy of Karameikos and The Dungeons and Dragons Rule Cyclopedia among numerous other works. According to the article he died of heart failure while at a convention. I was sad to read this and bummed not to have learned it for almost a year. He wrote a lot of stuff that I used constantly back in the day.

RIP, Mr. Allston! Your works will live on for as long as gamers still play paper RPGs!

The same story also mentions the death of David Trampier; he painted some of the early covers of some AD&D books.

EH, no problem. Man, where's the crypt keeper. I can hear my footsteps on this site. Then again, I'm a hobo of sorts. I'm using a library computer. Bad times these days.

btw, never delete your stuff in th name of christain shame. I did and now I feel horrible. Missouri sucked. Back in oregon and trying to scrape back my stuff. Thank me for some disk backups.

Well that sucks! The Rules Cyclopedia had all sorts of awesome info in it. Dying at a convention, that really sucks. :(

I moved this to Site News, but left a copy in the other forum so we can all find it.

That either sucks or is the most D&D way you could go out! But RIP in any event.

Good to see you around again, McDeath. Sorry the trip was crappy. I hope you get your stuff up and running again soon.

I was just thinking that dying at a convention seems like a good way to go. Though it sucks for everyone else.
