HALLOWEEN

Post by Halaster Blackcloak »

Bah! I'm weaning off politics to focus on...

HALLOWEEN!

These pics are of a vampire by Spanish artist Sanjulian, who did a lot of work for Warren Publications (Eerie Magazine, Creepy Magazine, etc). She appeared in the series Dax the Damned. Love the character, she's a vampire lord in my games. Look at the color and details! She drips evil!

Image

And another version...

Image

I've got to get these blown up to posted size and framed!

And what sane DM can resist putting undead in a campaign after seeing this amazing art from Bill Willingham (one of my two all time fave D&D artists) in the back of the 1E Fiend Folio?

Someone turned that Sanjulian pic into a modified Monster Manual. I'd have snatched it off the shelf!

That’s pretty cool. Wonder what could be done for MM2 and FF.

Every Halloween I usually play Splatterhouse 3(genesis), Castlevania 1-2(NES) and Cauldron 1-2 (c64). Usually.... last year I didn’t.

Thinking of Halloween and movies and games I’d still like to see some turned into module/campaigns.

Now I might put Hawk the Slayer, sword and the sorcerer and Krull into one campaign with maybe Beastmaster.

The Horror Genre could each be a separate domain in Ravenloft and their mirror entry not in the DoD.

Phantasm
Nightmare on Elm Street
Friday the 13th, Halloween (babysitter murder camp stuff could probably all fit in sane domain along with Chainsaw massacre, and the ilk.)
Leprechaun
Psycho, The Shining
IT
hell... Penny Dreadful was pretty good.
The Exorcist
The Thing
Hellraiser
Evil Dead
Poltergeist
The Fly
The Fog
The wicker man
The conjuring
The ring
Saw
The birds
Poltergeist
Blair witch
Carrie

Eh there’s tons and many cross genre. Now some movies are just bleach but the premise could be delivered. I only think of it and don’t write. Ravenloft can be extra horror rule heavy instead of just going generic horror.

Phantasm is one of my top two favorite movies of all time, along with Lemora, A Child's Tale of the Supernatural.

Lemora would make a cool module similar to the original Ravenloft adventure, only with more story and excitement.

Interesting with vampire factions and the church. Maybe I’ll find a copy. Name reminded me of LLORONA the weeping woman. I first heard of this named entity in the c64 Adventure construction set game. No background just name and stats and it’s Cry of the dead ranged attack. I finally looked her up on the net some 35 years later on the net.

I bought this book Image

The Plucker by Brom. I won’t ruin the story but it has a nifty evil being and is most definitely a dark take on the toy soldier story like the nutcracker. GOOD book of its sort and pretty easy to read since it’s majorly art by Brom.

Brom is my favorite 2E artists, hands down! Love his work!

You can get Lemora online, but you have to get the DVD from Synapse Video. It's the only remastered, clean, complete copy out there. The VHS tapes are all grainy and dark and almost unwatchable.

Some fans took the covers of various old Eerie Magazine covers and created a cartoon of them with the background of the Johnson Monsters Record that sold in the 70's. This is definitely not safe for work, unless the staff has a strong stomach!

God this is awesome!

My favorite holiday of the year! I'd seriously trade Xmas, Easter and Thanksgiving to have three Halloweens! 8)

Not me! I have to have that mix of Halloween/Thanksgiving/Xmas.

To me, Christmas Eve is the single best, most magical night of the entire year!

I just got this audio-book

https://www.amazon.com/Dracula-Dead-Dac ... 0525951296

for .25 cents at my local library. Pity they didn’t have Dracula the original first story. Late for Halloween but a good listen anyways.

I think the title of this thread should just be Halloween that way we can look back upon them all. First full moon this month was awesome and the second is looking good. Here's my latest antics..

This year the ultimate in Halloween Moons. May your skies be clear. It is supposedly to be clear where i live though a lil ground fog and a few spooky clouds would be fine.

Anyways... while at my local store I chatted up Skellers....

And because of my blathering Skeller was fired. So, here's how skellers lives..

McDeath, can you please resize the images before posting them? It's really screwing up the formatting and unfortunately the site doesn't auto-size the pics. God I wish I could update the software! Hmmm. I think the new forum site may autosize images. I gotta check.

Good idea about changing the title. That way it's all in one post. I changed it to simply "Halloween". It will definitely be a lot easier to find. Now to post some pics of my decorating!

Halloween! Greatest time of year! I wanted to share some of my decorating this year. I never realized before just how quickly and intensely a blacklight causes glow-in-the-dark things to glow! (Kooky Spookys, Kabala game, etc).

The blue stuff in the test tube is called Moon Blob. I first saw an ad for it in a comic book back in 1971. I wanted it so bad! But, mom decided it would fuck up the carpet, so I didn't end up getting it.

Image

Something like 35 years later I found the place that still made it and ordered some and viola! A dream come true! Only problem is the new version doesn't glow in the dark. I'm gonna look for GITD powder to add to it to make it glow. God it was so cool to play with it after waiting decades to get it!

Posting from phone always has this issue. Next time i'm on the computer I'll trim them down. I keep forgetting about the new site. I need to make a shortcut on my main phone screen.
